Attic Insulation

Attic insulation will help you save energy, money and the environment, keeping your house warmer in winter and cooler in summer. Attic insulation is an extremely effective method of reducing the cost of heating your home. It is estimated that 25% of heat is lost through an uninsulated roof. The recommended standard of roof insulation is currently at 300mm (2006 Building Regs) and many homes fall well below this level. We offer numerous different solutions in relation to attic insulation:

  • We can pump blown-in mineral wool insulation into the attic. This is a very popular option (especially in low pitched roof's). Some of the benefits of this option include reduced thermal loss because the insulation coverage is 100% - You will not have any gaps between insulation rolls.
  • We can install traditional fibreglass rolls. These are rolled across the top of existing timber joists (perpendicular to existing insulation).

Whenwe insulate an attic space we also provide an option for storage area. We use a pre-made PolyIso board bonded with a tongue and groove timber panel. This solution will achieve same U-values as 300mm rolled out Fibre insulation and is fully accepted by SEI for the current Home Energy Savings Grant Scheme. The image above shows an insulated attic consisting of insulated walkway from attic hatch to water tank.

  • Walkway and handrail from attic hatch to water storage tanks.
  • Insulation of water tank and associated pipework.
  • We fit all major electrical cables into conduit boxing.
  • We Insulate and draft-seal the attic hatch.
